Founded in 2019 and based in New York, our archive blog is a space where we preserve what we call the second skin the layered essence found in art, fashion, and design, especially those influenced by 1990s and 2000s Western and Asian culture. Archiving, to us, goes beyond preservation; it’s about storytelling capturing how garments, designs, and artworks serve as living memories that pulse with the spirit of their time. We’re especially fascinated by how this era’s fashion and art reflected a vibrant cultural exchange, from Western streetwear and grunge to Asian street style, manga aesthetics, and avant-garde design.
To archive the second skin is to honor textures and stories that connect personal and collective identities, with each piece carrying the marks of creativity, culture, and craftsmanship. Our blog captures the spirit of those decades, when style and design were raw, experimental, and expressive across both sides of the globe. In holding these pieces, we aim to highlight how art and design embody both the timeless and the fleeting creating a bridge between past and future, and between the East and West.
